A workspace is a company, client, or group of users. You need at least one workspace before projects and tasks are useful. Different workspaces keep different people and projects apart.
Empty install
A new install has no workspace. Create one before you try to run a project.
Create
From the top bar Create control, or Create New on the empty-workspace screen:
- Workspace name — company or group name
- Workspace type — pick from the configured types (admins can manage types under Settings)
- Website — optional
- Description — optional
After create, you land on that workspace’s project overview.
Invite members
Open Invite Workspace members. A searchable list of existing users appears. Click a user to add them.
Users who are not in Settings → Users yet cannot be invited. Add them first, then invite.
You can scroll the list when it is long; search by name. After adding, you are taken to the members page for that workspace (/w/{uid}/members).
A user’s role controls whether they can create workspaces and projects. Membership still controls what they can see.
Edit
On the workspace projects page, the ⋯ menu (near Invite) includes Edit Workspace. Change name, type, website, description. Save with Update Workspace.
Delete
Delete Workspace from the same menu asks for confirmation.
Deleting a workspace removes projects, lists, tasks, timers, and related data for that workspace. There is no undo.
Workspace-level views
Besides the project grid, a workspace can show all of its tasks in board, table, calendar, and timeline layouts, plus My Tasks for the signed-in user. See Views.
