Your profile
Settings → Edit profile (/settings/edit-profile): first/last name, email, phone, address, photo, password, and Language (locale).
Changing email affects login. Changing language affects your UI; it does not change the site default.
Site default language
Admins set Default language on Global settings for guests and new users. Full translation editing: Languages.
Quick language switch
/language/{language} sets the locale for the session (language selector in the chrome). Prefer saving locale on the profile so it sticks.
Dark / layout
Layout background is an admin design setting, not a per-user theme switch. See Design.
