Employee records, leave, attendance, and lite payroll — an optional module, off by default for every tenant.

Turning it on

HR only appears in the sidebar once enabled: Settings → Organization → "Enable HR module". Turning it on for the first time seeds three default leave types (Annual, Sick, Unpaid). Turning it off again just hides the module — no data is deleted, so switching it back on later picks up right where you left off.

Employees

An Employee record doesn't require a login — someone can be tracked in HR (payroll, leave, attendance) without ever being a User who logs into the app. If they also need access, link the employee to a real user account separately. Each employee gets a sequential employee number (EMP-00001, ...).

Leave requests

An employee (or whoever manages HR) submits a leave request against one of your leave types, with a date range and day count. Someone with leave-approval permission (HR Manager, Admin, Owner) approves or rejects it — approving records who approved it and when.

Attendance

One record per employee per day, with a check-in and check-out time. Checking out an already-checked-in employee updates that same day's record rather than creating a duplicate.

Payroll runs

Create a payroll run for a period (a pay period's start/end date); it generates one payslip per active employee, defaulting net pay to that employee's base salary (this is intentionally lite — there's no tax withholding table, no benefits deductions calculator; deductions_minor exists on each payslip if you need to adjust one by hand before finalizing). Finalize the run once you're done — finalized runs are locked from further edits.

Payroll is deliberately not wired into the Accounting ledger — no journal entries get posted for payroll runs. If you need payroll expenses on your books, post a manual journal entry for the total.

Roles

The HR Manager role covers employees, leave (including approval), attendance, and payroll. Owner and Admin have it by default via their all-permissions access; every other role sees nothing HR-related unless you assign relevant permissions individually.
